London. In another in a series of conversations about US Healthcare reform and
its implications, we focus on how the rest of the world views what's happening,
and what the impact will be on the Healthcare industry worldwide. |
Highlights
0:00 Does the rest of the world have a stake in
the current US Healthcare reform effort? Some care from a political standpoint-
what happens here may happen elsewhere for good or ill.
2:17 The rest of the world needs a healthy US Healthcare
system as its biggest market for devices. It has also been a net exporter of
human capital and innovation.
4:15 Globalization is
creating shifts in the marketplace. While the US will continue to be the largest
market for a long time, countries such as India, Brazil and others will become
targeted markets over the next few years.
5:29 The flow
of talent will change as a result of globabilization. The US has always exported
administrators and experts, and imported nurses and engineers. This will slowly
shift.
6:36 The next year will bring a continued
shortage of doctors in Europe. Growth in the Devices and Pharmaceutical sectors
will come from the Middle East and Asia.
